RARE LIBRARY COLLECTION: ON THE INVALUABLE WORKS OF FYODOR GOLOVANOV

In the Rare Fund of the University Library the exposition devoted to the collection of primers of the scientist-linguist Fyodor Golovanov takes a special place.

Fyodor Grigorievich is a scientist, a front man, a teacher of Ust-Kamenogorsk Pedagogical Institute, who stood at the origins of the educational institution. F. G. Golovanov’s dissertation “Simplification of written font and change of system of studying children to write” became famous for the whole Soviet Union. It was a triumph of UKPI, which allowed the alma mater to become one of the leading pedagogical scientific centers of the country.

Thanks to the scientist, children in all schools of the Soviet Union were taught the simplified experimental alphabet “cursive writing”. Also ballpoint pens led to the release of new copybooks for elementary school students. In addition, the scientist worked through 110 primers, tracing the evolution of the font of each letter, and proposed his own, which was taken as a basis in seven countries.
