ELDERLY PEOPLE’S DAY: EKU STUDENTS GIVE SMILES

Active students of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University visited CSI ‘Ust-Kamenogorsk Centre for Special Social Services’ of the Department for Coordination of Employment and Social Programmes of the East Kazakhstan region in honour of the International Day of the Elderly.

The purpose of the event was to honour the work of the elderly, to learn about their problems and needs, as well as to raise their spirits and show them care.

Among the guests was service recipient Serik Yesetov, who happily sang songs with the youth, sharing stories of his life and giving them his blessings.

– I am immensely grateful to the students who came to us and gave us joy. Thanks to talented young people, we experience happiness. May your road be always open and you continue to use your knowledge for the development and prosperity of our country,’ he said.

The centre is currently hosting more than 100 senior citizens who danced to the tunes of beautiful songs, sang and exchanged impressions with the youth.

– We came today to show our respect and appreciation to the elderly. To see smiles on the faces of grandparents is a real happiness for us. May our older generation be healthy and their labour for the benefit of society remain in our memory,’ emphasised one of the EKU students.
