STUDENTS AGAINST DRUGS

The event ‘Students against drugs’ was held at EKU together with the staff of the Drug Crime Control Department of the East Kazakhstan Region Police Department, in which Akmaral Nauatbek, the champion of the Paralympics-2024 in Paris, took part.

The main purpose of the event was to raise awareness against drugs, encourage students to interact and support each other in this fight.

The event began with a welcoming speech by the rector of the S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, Mukhtar Tolegen.

– Today’s meeting is dedicated to the topic that concerns each of us. Unfortunately, in recent years we have seen an increase in drug use among young people, and this trend requires our immediate response. Our university has created prevention programmes, psychological services are working, and educational activities aimed at combating drug addiction are regularly held, – said the rector of EKU Mukhtar Tolegen.

Akmaral Nauatbek did not stay aside and also spoke at the event, emphasising the relevance of the topic.

– As a sportswoman, I know that it takes hard work, perseverance and purity to achieve success. Drugs only distract and destroy. Let’s support each other, together we can create a better future for us and the next generations,’ Akmaral Nauatbek said.

At the end of the event, officers of the East Kazakhstan Region Police Department made an explanatory speech. According to them, today drug offenders in Kazakhstan face imprisonment of up to 20 years.
