AGRICULTURE IN KAZAKHSTAN: THE ROLE OF EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SECTOR
Agriculture plays a key role in the economy of Kazakhstan, being not only a historical part of the national culture, but also the most important industry that ensures food security of the country.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the development of virgin and fallow lands in Kazakhstan, which was an important stage in the history of the country’s agricultural sector.
Today, for the successful development of the agricultural sector it is important to take into account both historical experience and modern challenges, such as climate change, the need to increase the sustainability of agricultural production and efficient use of natural resources.
East Kazakhstan University’s contribution to the development of agriculture
The Department of Ecology and Geography at Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University is actively involved in training specialists for agriculture, covering various aspects of agrarian economics and ecology. Students are trained in a wide range of disciplines such as “Geography of Agriculture”, “Organization of Agricultural Production”, “Agroecology and Ecology of Agriculture”, as well as gaining knowledge in the field of water resources and occupational safety in the agricultural sector.
During the educational process students get acquainted with the peculiarities of agricultural production and solve actual problems related to sustainable development of rural areas, environmental protection and efficient use of natural resources. An important place in the training of specialists is occupied by the participation of students in scientific research, writing theses and articles, as well as participation in national and regional actions related to the development of agro-industrial complex of Kazakhstan.

The teaching staff of the Department of Ecology and Geography actively works on scientific projects and research that contribute to the further development of agriculture of the state.
