RECTOR OF EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY: “MEMORANDUMS WERE SIGNED WITH LEADING UNIVERSITIES OF KYRGYZSTAN”.
“Strengthening of interrelations with leading universities and scientific centers around the world is one of the priority tasks of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University. Today our university has more than 200 active agreements on cooperation in the field of education and science.
In order to strengthen international cooperation, I as a member of the university delegation arrived at the International Forum of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Central Asia, held in Kyrgyzstan, the main purpose of which is to expand regional cooperation.
During the working trip we visited a number of leading universities of the brotherly country. In particular, the I. Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University and the largest Osh State University, where about 49 thousand students study. We were presented the activities of faculties, material and technical base and living conditions in student campuses.
Osh State University was founded in 1939 by the decision of the Council of People’s Commissars of Kyrgyzstan as Osh Teachers’ Institute. Currently, the University has over 49 thousand students studying in 72 specialties. 13510 students from 27 foreign countries study at Osh State University. In total over 1500 teachers and more than 1200 employees work at OshSU.
Today OshSU has 17 faculties, 3 educational institutes, 6 colleges, 5 lyceums, 1 kindergarten, postgraduate, residency and master’s degree departments. There are Faculty of Business and Management, Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technologies, Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Russian Philology, Faculty of Physics and Technology, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography, Faculty of History and Law, Faculty of Medicine, International Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Journalism, Faculty of Pedagogy and Physical Education, Faculty of Art.
We have come to several agreements with Osh State University. We are strong partners in the implementation of the academic mobility program. Our students and teachers of East Kazakhstan University can study and train in one of the prestigious and distinguished universities of beautiful Kyrgyzstan. In addition, we will realize joint scientific projects, which will become a significant contribution to the development of both states.
We have also signed a memorandum with the Kyrgyz State Technical University. This is a new stage in the partnership. The signed document envisages mutual support in national and international rankings, exchange of students and teachers, as well as active research activities.
The state higher education institution is located in Bishkek. The university was established on September 1, 1954, as the Frunze Polytechnic Institute. Today KSTU owns innovative technologies and implements the latest educational programs. The university has 24000 students wishing to receive higher and specialized secondary education, as well as about 200 students of lyceum and more than 190 postgraduate students and applicants, 1000 foreign students.
In 2024 the Kyrgyz State Technical University was awarded the Order “Dank” for the great contribution to the development of technical education and science of the Kyrgyz Republic. The University includes: Faculty of Engineering and Economics, Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Transport and Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Information Technology, Faculty of Energy, Faculty of Geology and Exploration, Kyrgyz-German Technical Faculty, Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy and Faculty of Ecology and Economics. In the international rating QS WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS CENTRAL ASIA- 2025 our partner is ranked 13th”.
