STRENGTHENING INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION: AN INTERVIEW WITH PhD FROM KSTU
One of the priority tasks of Amanzholov University is to strengthen ties with leading universities and research centers of the world. Thus, recently another memorandum of cooperation was signed with the I. Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University. The document provides for mutual support in national and international rankings, exchange of students and teachers, as well as the development of joint research activities.
The first step in the realization of the partnership was the arrival of PhD of KSTU Mars Digaraev to East Kazakhstan University.
– This is the second time I am in Ust-Kamenogorsk. The first time I came in 2012 to the Summer School as a teacher of German language. Then I got acquainted with my colleagues, with whom I am still in touch. Kazakhstan has always been a native country for me. I have visited different regions of the country, and each of them surprises me with its beauty and hospitality of people. In Eastern Kazakhstan I am impressed by the Altai Mountains, developed industry and cultural diversity. Besides, I know that there is a good hockey team “Torpedo” here.
Since that time Mars Digaraev has only positive impressions about East Kazakhstan University.
– It is the largest university of East-Kazakhstan region and one of the leading universities of the country. Here I met many highly qualified specialists whom I already know from my work in Kyrgyzstan. In the library of the university I found unique materials for my doctoral thesis, and the dormitory pleasantly surprised me with its cleanliness and comfort.
Mars Digaraev specializes in the study of repatriates. In particular, German settlers in East Kazakhstan. His goal is to make a comparative analysis and understand how the resettlement affected the people themselves and the region as a whole.
According to the doctoral student, the main challenges in his work remain the lack of time and the need to painstakingly search for materials. However, he believes that living eyewitness accounts, photographs and documents are the most valuable resources for research.
– My work is a great potential for the development of historical, cultural, economic and intercultural research. Combining the efforts of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Germany in this direction will bring fruitful results. In addition, I think that the material I have collected will be useful for other scholars,” said the guest of the university.
