AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY TACKLES THE PROBLEM OF BULLYING IN EKR SCHOOLS

Specialists in psychology and pedagogy of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University developed an author’s professional development course for teachers and psychologists. The training is aimed at preventing violence, bullying and suicide among underage children. The program of the course is coordinated with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

-According to the research of the National Center for Public Health, every fifth Kazakhstan teenager becomes a victim or participant of bullying. Therefore, this problem is the most urgent today,” said Yulia Kukina, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, one of the authors of the project.

The course program includes the principles of state policy in the field of child rights protection, international experience in solving the problem, explanation of suicidal behavior and its prevention, measures to form a non-violent environment, as well as the ethics of professional activity.

-Sessions are available on our portal. We have uploaded theoretical and practical materials, as well as the entire regulatory framework. Trainees complete assignments that are used to assess their theoretical knowledge. Practical skills are practiced in the workplace. Later, participants defend their projects,” explained Alima Alipova, the developer of the course, head of the Center for Continuing and Inclusive Education ‘Dana bala’.

It is noteworthy that the training takes place in both offline and online formats. This allows to provide relevant knowledge to teachers not only in East Kazakhstan region, but also in the whole Kazakhstan.

-As many as 10 teachers of the regional secondary boarding school of sanatorium type “Zhuldyz” in Akmola region became listeners in the first stream. I think that in the near future the ‘geography of our courses’ will only expand,” said project author Kymbat Kanapiyanova.

According to Tamara Lebedeva, a teacher-psychologist at the boarding school, thanks to the knowledge gained, it became easier for her to carry out corrective work with children from the risk group, to respond competently to situations of violence, and to maintain a safe and comfortable school environment.
