REDUCING INEQUALITY IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SCIENCE IN MAJOR CITIES AND REGIONS OF KAZAKHSTAN

In recent years, the country has paid special attention to the development of science in the regions within the framework of the initiative “Strong Regional Science – Strong Region”. This initiative is one of the steps towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Its main objective is to eliminate inequalities in science between large cities and regions, and to develop scientific potential evenly.

To achieve the global goal, the Foresight Center operates in S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University. At its opening it was noted that so far 75% of the funds allocated to science have been spent on Almaty and Astana, only the remaining 25% were transferred to the regions. Now these gaps have been filled, and the work of scientists of East Kazakhstan region is highly appreciated at the republican level.

– Employees of our scientific center are constantly working for the benefit of the earth’s population, supporting the green economy. The second largest industry in the country after minerals is agriculture. We conduct research for the safety of agricultural products, preservation of soil moisture,” said Akatan Kydirmolla, head of the NSLCU.

It should be noted that East Kazakhstan University researchers have won six projects within the grant funding of scientific and scientific-technical projects for 2024-2026. One of the priority areas of the projects is sustainable development of the agro-industrial complex.

– We processed sunflower, soybean and other seeds and obtained valuable biopolymers. They can be used in agriculture. All our scientific work is realized with the aim of giving people the opportunity to consume natural and clean products,” the scientist said.
