SDG: CULTURES OF DIVERSITY, EQUALITY AND INCLUSION
S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University actively participates in the implementation of SDGs, making a significant contribution to the achievement of Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), Goal 10 (Reduce Inequality) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Effective Institutions).
In the period 2024-2026, with the support of grant funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, East Kazakhstan University is implementing a scientific project “Social and psychological support for the formation of DE&I culture of Kazakhstan companies in the conditions of social modernization”, aimed at promoting DE&I culture in Kazakhstan society.
This project, carried out by scientists of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy, is aimed at studying and introducing the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in the corporate culture, which contributes to the creation of a sustainable and fair working environment.
The relevance of the project is due to the need to overcome psychological barriers that arise when introducing innovative changes, especially in the context of social modernization. The project is aimed at creating a value attitude to the principles of DE&I, taking into account the socio-cultural and ethno-psychological features of Kazakhstan. The aim of the project is to develop a system of socio-psychological support that promotes the introduction of DE&I values in the work environment, thereby contributing to the achievement of the SDGs related to social justice, equal opportunities and decent work for all.
The project objectives include studying best practices of DE&I implementation, identifying barriers, researching socio-cultural aspects and developing a socio-psychological support system. Expected scientific results include the development of a typology of DE&I promotion trajectories as a vector of innovative development, which corresponds to SDGs 8 and 10, the creation of a content model of DE&I principles as value relations that promote inclusive and equitable workplaces (SDGs 5 and 8), the development of a methodological matrix for assessing value relations and identifying scenarios for socio-psychological intervention, which ensures effective implementation of DE&I principles (SDG 16).
The implementation of the S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University project promotes a culture of diversity, equality and inclusion, which is an important step towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Kazakhstan. This emphasizes the significant role of higher education institutions as drivers of social change and shows their contribution to the creation of a sustainable and just society. The project not only provides a theoretical basis for promoting DE&I, but also provides practical tools for implementing these values in everyday practice.
