Academic mobility



The international activities of the university play an important role in enriching students’ educational experience and promoting scientific and cultural exchange.
Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University actively cooperates with foreign universities, research centers, and international organizations, consistently expanding the geography of its partnerships and educational opportunities for students. The university implements academic mobility programs, double degree programs, joint research projects, and international educational initiatives aimed at improving the quality of specialist training and integrating the university into the global educational space.
Particular attention is paid to developing cooperation within the Erasmus+, Orhun, and other international programs that facilitate the exchange of experience, the introduction of modern educational technologies, and the strengthening of the university’s academic reputation on the international stage.
Thanks to active international engagement, students and faculty members of the university have the opportunity to study, undertake internships, and conduct research at leading foreign universities, thereby expanding their professional competencies and intercultural experience.
Academic mobility
Academic mobility is a form of organizing educational and research activities that involves studying or conducting research at another higher and (or) postgraduate education institution for a certain academic period (a semester or an academic year).
Within the framework of academic mobility, students and members of the teaching staff of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University may study, undertake internships, or carry out research projects at a foreign or domestic partner university. The courses completed are recognized in the form of academic credits at the home university, or students may continue their studies at the host institution.
Academic mobility programs are aimed at expanding academic and professional competencies, developing intercultural communication, improving language proficiency, and integrating the university into the international educational space. The participation of academic staff in mobility programs contributes to the development of scientific cooperation, the exchange of advanced educational technologies, and the improvement of the quality of the educational process.
Academic mobility is implemented on the basis of bilateral agreements, international programs (Erasmus+, Orhun, etc.), as well as national and international grant projects. The university ensures a competitive selection of participants, academic support, and recognition of learning outcomes in accordance with established procedures.
Procedure for Student Participation in Academic Mobility Programs
Students of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University are provided with the opportunity to participate in academic mobility programs funded by the republican budget.
The competitive selection process is conducted in three stages in accordance with the current regulatory requirements.
Stage I – Language Proficiency
At the first stage of the competitive selection, the level of foreign language proficiency of the applicants is assessed.
Students who meet the following requirements are eligible to participate:
- foreign language proficiency level — not lower than B2;
Minimum scores:
- IELTS — not less than 5.5;
- TOEFL iBT — not less than 46.
In the absence of an international certificate, a certificate issued by the Multilingual Education Center “Til Alemi”, which is considered equivalent to an international certificate, is accepted.
The results of this stage serve as the basis for admission to the next stage of the competitive selection.
Application deadline: March 3, 2026 – May 17, 2026.
Stage II – Document Submission and Competitive Interview for Academic Mobility
Candidates who have successfully passed the first stage of the competitive selection must submit the full package of documents within the established deadlines and undergo a mandatory competitive interview.
During the interview, the following criteria are assessed:
- academic performance of the candidate;
- level of motivation to participate in the academic mobility program;
- compliance of the chosen field of study with the educational program;
- communicative and academic competencies.
The results of the second stage serve as the basis for forming the ranking list and admission to the next stage of the competitive selection.
List of required documents:
- Application and participation form (completed by hand in written form);
- Copy of the international passport (color);
- Transcript confirming a grade point average (GPA) of not less than 3.5 (with the necessary signatures and seals of the COS “PARASAT”);
- Copy of the certificate of general secondary education with transcript (grades);
- Document confirming the level of foreign language proficiency (one of the following documents must be provided):
- international certificate: IELTS — not less than 5.5 / TOEFL iBT — not less than 46;
- or a certificate issued by the Multilingual Education Center “Til Alemi”;
- Two letters of recommendation from the Dean of the Higher School and the Head of the Department;
- Written consent of parents (legal representatives) for travel abroad;
- Certificates from the psychoneurological and narcological dispensaries obtained through the eGov.kz portal;
- Document confirming family composition (if available), confirming preferential status;
- Documents confirming achievements (if available).
Application deadline: March 20, 2026 – April 15, 2026.
Stage III – Preparation of Documents for Departure Abroad
Following the successful completion of the second stage of the competitive selection and upon receiving a recommendation for study abroad, in accordance with the Rules for Sending Students Abroad for Study, including within the framework of academic mobility, approved by the Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 19, 2008 No. 613, students are required to submit the established package of documents for arranging their departure abroad.
Submission of the complete package of documents is a mandatory condition for sending a student to study at the host higher and (or) postgraduate education institution.
Required documents:
- Student’s application;
- Individual study plan (to be obtained from COS “PARASAT”);
- Copy of the transcript (in Russian, with official stamps; issued by COS “PARASAT”);
- Medical certificate according to Form No. 072-u;
- Student’s written acknowledgment (receipt);
- Protocol (agreement) between the universities;
- Outgoing student questionnaire;
- Copy of passport and identity card;
- Invitation from the host university (original and translation signed by the translator);
- Written consent (receipt) from parents (legal representatives).
Documents must be submitted within the established deadlines to the relevant structural unit of the university.
Application deadline: March 28, 2026 – May 15, 2026.
- Study with University Support
Students included in the reserve list following the selection for state-funded mobility may participate in the competitive selection funded by the university, provided they meet the established requirements.
Requirements for participants
To participate in the competition, the following requirements must be met:
- English language proficiency at a level not lower than B2
(IELTS — not less than 5.5, TOEFL iBT — not less than 46); - Grade Point Average (GPA) — not lower than 3.5.
Priority during the competitive selection is given to applicants holding a certificate issued by the Multilingual Education Center “Til Alemi”.
- Study at the Student’s Own Expense
This format allows students to study at a foreign partner university with the consent of the host institution and in compliance with the academic requirements of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University.
A mandatory requirement for participation is a confirmed level of foreign language proficiency that meets the requirements of the host university.
The student independently covers all expenses related to tuition, accommodation, airfare, visa processing, and medical insurance.
