PERSEVERANCE AND STRENGTH OF SPIRIT: AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY STUDENT CONQUERS THE GLOBAL RING

Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University takes pride in its students who achieve success on the international stage and bring honor to their alma mater. One of these students is Maksat Yerlanuly, a fourth-year student in the Physical Culture and Sports program. The young athlete has achieved remarkable success in kickboxing, becoming a World Cup champion.

Maksat Yerlanuly has been practicing sports for over ten years. During this time, he has become a two-time champion of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an Asian champion among men, a finalist in the World Championship, a World Cup winner, and a multiple-time medalist in national competitions.

“Kickboxing attracted me with its dynamism and strength. It’s a spectacular sport where speed, technique, and creativity matter. I enjoy the sense of control over the match and the ability to apply my own techniques,” Maksat Yerlanuly shared.

A particularly significant achievement for him was winning the 2022 Asian Championship held in Thailand. According to Maksat, such accomplishments inspire him to continue developing and strengthen his confidence in his abilities.

Maksat’s path to success is guided by his coach, Yerzhan Shegenov, an Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and four-time World Champion. Under his mentorship, Maksat is currently preparing for the next national championship.

“In sports, there are not only victories but also defeats. The main thing is not to give up. I analyze my mistakes, consult with my coach, and keep working on myself,” Maksat Yerlanuly said.

Despite his busy training schedule, Maksat successfully combines sports with his studies. He monitors his academic performance, makes up for missed classes, and strives to maintain a high level of knowledge.

“The university administration and faculty always support me. If I miss classes due to training camps or competitions, they allow me to complete everything at a convenient time,” Maksat shared.

Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University places great emphasis on supporting student-athletes. Their victories on national and international stages are a source of pride for the entire university community and inspire the younger generation to pursue their own goals.
