INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL SEMINAR AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY: “THE SCIENTIFIC HERITAGE OF SHOKAN UALIKHANOV AND THE CONTEMPORARY STUDY OF THE GREATER ALTAI”

Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, the research center “Altaistudies,” and the Department of Kazakh History and Socio-Humanitarian Disciplines, together with the academic library named after B. Mamraev, held an international scientific and practical seminar titled “The Scientific Heritage of Shokan Ualikhanov and the Contemporary Study of the Greater Altai.”

The main goal of the seminar was to discuss modern research directions on the Greater Altai through the study and popularization of Shokan Ualikhanov’s scientific heritage.

During the event, the director of the research center “Altaistudies,” PhD Mayra Tarlaubay, presented the center’s activities and emphasized the important role of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University in the study of the Greater Altai.

Researcher at the National Library of the Altai Republic (Russia), Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, and Honored Scientist of the Altai Republic Larisa Tybykova presented a popular scientific documentary film “Altai Runica” and answered questions from seminar participants.

Chief librarian of the B. Mamraev Scientific Library Svetlana Samoylova gave a report titled “Resources of the EKU Library for Research on the Greater Altai” and introduced participants to the library’s rare collections.

The director of the Mongolian State University of Education branch in Bayan-Ölgii, PhD, Associate Professor Khinalgan Zhylykhaidar, spoke about the branch’s activities, noting that many aspects of the Greater Altai remain unexplored, and expressed confidence in expanding scientific cooperation between the two universities.

Chief researcher at the NISC “Altaistudies,” Candidate of Philological Sciences Raushangul Mukysheva, presented a report titled “Shokan Ualikhanov – Researcher of Turkic Peoples’ Folklore,” sharing her own experience.

Aigul Zhirenova, in her report “Sh. Ualikhanov and the Idea of Cultural Self-Knowledge: From Ethnographic Description to a National Project,” analyzed the directions of the scholar’s research.

At the conclusion, participants discussed Shokan Ualikhanov’s scientific works, modern research methods for studying the Greater Altai region, formulated proposals, and considered ways to effectively use library resources.

The seminar became an important informational and practical platform for the scientific community and students.
