PREVENTION OF INTERNET FRAUD: A MEETING WITH POLICE OFFICERS WAS HELD AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY
At Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, a preventive meeting was held between students and representatives of the Ulbinsk Police Department of Ust-Kamenogorsk, dedicated to issues of internet fraud and the legal safety of young people.
Today, the “invisible front” of the digital era unfolds inside every smartphone. Every day, thousands of Kazakhstanis become victims of fraudsters, losing significant amounts of money. That is why developing legal literacy and digital security skills among young people has become one of the priority tasks.
As part of the meeting, explanatory work with students was conducted by Dulаt Kabyshov, an authorized officer on internet fraud issues; Amangeldy Daribaev, an inspector for juvenile affairs; Beibit Iksanov, a district police inspector; and Sungat Seilzhanov, Deputy Head of the Criminal Police Unit.
The event was held in the format of an open dialogue under the principle of “Law and Order.” Its main goal was not merely to familiarize students with statistics on offenses, but to cultivate in them a strong legal awareness and a conscious attitude toward personal safety.
Police officers provided detailed information about the most common and sophisticated internet fraud schemes. The audience showed particular interest in cases of telephone scams, in which criminals impersonate bank employees, as well as fake prize giveaways on social media.
The meeting had a practical focus: students shared real-life situations that they or their relatives had encountered. Specialists gave a legal assessment of each case and explained the algorithm of actions to be taken in the first minutes after detecting fraudulent activity.
The event held within the university walls became an important step toward ensuring the safety of student youth. After all, where law and order prevail, there is no place for fraud. At the same time, it is clear that protection against offenses begins with the personal responsibility of every citizen and the enhancement of one’s legal culture.
