AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF ANNA VASILYEVNA YEGORINA WAS HELD AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY
At Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, an international scientific and practical conference for students, master’s and doctoral students, and young scientists was held on the topic “Modern Trends in Natural Science Research.” The event was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the outstanding scholar, Professor of the Department of Ecology and Geography, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Anna Vasilyevna Yegorina.
Anna Vasilyevna Yegorina was born on March 4, 1946, in the Bolshie-Narym District. For more than 20 years, her professional activity was connected with higher education. During her work at the university, she established herself as a highly qualified specialist, talented teacher, and mentor who made an invaluable contribution to training young specialists and developing geographical science in the region.
One of the professor’s significant professional achievements was the development of educational atlases for primary and secondary school students — “Our Region – East Kazakhstan” and “Small Homeland – East Kazakhstan.” These publications played an important role in shaping knowledge about the natural features of the native region among the younger generation.
A special focus of Anna Vasilyevna’s scientific work was the study of the climate of East Kazakhstan. Under her guidance, a series of monographs were prepared, including “Climate of the Southwestern Altai” and “Fogs of the Southwestern Altai.” Her work made a substantial contribution to the development of regional climatology and Altai studies. Her professional achievements have been recognized with numerous awards and acknowledgment from the scientific communities of Kazakhstan and Russia.
The conference, held at Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, brought together scientists, teachers, young researchers, and students.
Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Geography Anatoliy Chursin presented the report “The Scientific Path of Professor A.V. Yegorina: Milestones, Research, Pedagogical Heritage.”
Elena Selezneva, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor at the Institute of Geography, Altai State University (Barnaul, Russia), presented a report titled “Approaches to the Formation of Protected and Tourist Territories within International Cross-Border Regions: The Example of Altai.”
Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Tatyana Valentinovna Bashkireva (Ryazan, Russia) spoke about Anna Vasilyevna’s contribution to the development of the modern school of Altai studies in Kazakhstan and Russia in her report “The Contribution of A.V. Yegorina to the Development of the Modern School of Altai Studies in Kazakhstan and Russia: Climatic and Ethnogenetic Aspects of the Altai Nomads.”
Anatoliy Tsyganov, Director of the “Educational and Research Ecobio-Center” in Ust-Kamenogorsk, presented a report on the role of the ecobio-center in the system of natural science and continuity-based professional training for students.
Doctoral student of the Department of Ecology and Geography Anatoliy Pavlenko presented a report titled “Features of Modeling the Hydrographic Network Based on Digital Relief Models: The Example of the Irtysh River Basin within East Kazakhstan Region.”
At the conclusion of the plenary session, participants discussed the conference resolution, noting the relevance of the presented research and the significance of Professor Anna Vasilyevna Yegorina’s scientific legacy for the further development of natural science research.
The conference became not only a platform for exchanging scientific ideas but also an important event that united colleagues, students, and followers of Anna Vasilyevna, preserving and continuing her scientific traditions.
