NEW CONSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN: AN IMPORTANT STEP TOWARDS A JUST SOCIETY AND THE RULE OF LAW
The Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a solid foundation of our statehood, the core of the legal system, and the main document that determines the direction of the country’s development. In this context, the proposed draft of the new Constitution is regarded as an exceptionally important and responsible step in the history of Independent Kazakhstan. Prepared with consideration of public demand and the requirements of the time, this draft aims at clearly and systematically establishing at the constitutional level the principles of a “Just Kazakhstan” and “Law and Order.” These principles are focused on strengthening the rule of law, forming a fair system of governance, and ensuring reliable protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens.
The draft of the new Constitution clearly demonstrates the values to which our country is committed and the direction in which it will develop in the future. The document firmly enshrines such important ideas as the priority of human rights and freedoms, a responsible attitude toward the environment, and the development of civil society. This indicates that the state has chosen the path of sustainable development and approaches the well-being of society and the future of younger generations with full responsibility.
It should be noted that the draft Constitution was comprehensively studied and widely discussed by the public for nearly six months. During this period, about 2,000 proposals were received, each of which was carefully considered. As a result, the Constitutional Commission proposed amendments to 77 articles of the Constitution, which accounts for 84 percent of their total number, and this proposal received public support. This is important evidence that the updated Basic Law was developed with consideration of the opinions and interests of the people. Therefore, it can be confidently stated that the updated Constitution will become a solid foundation for strengthening the rule of law, building a just society, and ensuring the long-term sustainable development of the country.
