MODERN CHALLENGES OF JOURNALISM: EDUCATION AND DATA JOURNALISM

Associate Professor of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University and Candidate of Philological Sciences, Tatyana Galkina, participated in the International Scientific and Practical Conference of Journalists held in Pavlodar.

The scientific and professional community brought together scholars, researchers, and practicing media representatives to discuss the most pressing issues in the development of modern journalism and the media sphere. Conference participants paid special attention to the transformation of the media landscape, the digitalization of information processes, and the new requirements for professional training of journalism personnel.

In her presentation, Tatyana Galkina emphasized that one of the key challenges of modern journalism remains the quality training of specialists. In the context of rapid technological development, educational programs, courses, and even training materials quickly become outdated, requiring constant updates to the content of education and the implementation of modern methods for preparing future journalists.

Special attention in the report was given to the development of data journalism — one of the promising areas of modern media practice. According to the scholar, the use of data analysis allows journalists to conduct deeper investigations, identify cause-and-effect relationships, provide objective context for events, and support their materials with precise figures and verified facts.

The participation of representatives of the academic community in such international scientific and practical platforms contributes to strengthening the interaction between science and media practice, as well as forming new approaches to training professional journalists in the digital age.
