INTERNATIONAL-LEVEL EDUCATIONAL PROJECT DEDICATED TO NATIONAL SPIRITUAL HERITAGE

Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University has implemented a new international-level project aimed at integrating national spiritual heritage into the educational process through modern technologies and the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence.

The initiative is aligned with the strategic priorities outlined by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev regarding the digital transformation of Kazakhstan and the broad integration of artificial intelligence into education and science. In his Address to the People of Kazakhstan on September 8, 2025, the President noted that the country had entered an era of large-scale digitalisation and artificial intelligence, emphasising the importance of mastering new technologies to strengthen national competitiveness.

Within the framework of these strategic priorities, promoting national spiritual heritage through modern digital tools is becoming an effective way to preserve cultural values and present them to the younger generation in a contemporary format.

On the eve of Knowledge Day, the original Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) “The Mystery of Steppe Legends,” developed by Bakytzhan Bekenkyzy Kelgembayeva, Associate Professor and Candidate of Philological Sciences, was published on Coursera, one of the world’s leading educational platforms.

The course “The Mystery of Steppe Legends” is intended for students enrolled in the educational programmes “Kazakh Language and Literature,” “Kazakh Language and Literature in Schools with a Non-Kazakh Language of Instruction,” “Philology,” and “Turkology.”

This initiative is in line with the objectives set out in the President’s Address in the areas of digitalisation, artificial intelligence development, and the formation of an educated and highly qualified generation. Bringing the national literary heritage into the digital educational space enables the project to combine traditional values with modern technologies and opens up new opportunities for presenting the Kazakh epic tradition to an international audience.

The team of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University sincerely congratulates the course author, Bakytzhan Bekenkyzy Kelgembayeva, on this significant achievement!

We also express our gratitude to the project partner, BMG UpSkill, for its methodological and technical support throughout the development of the MOOC and its publication on the international educational platform Coursera.

May the new academic year be filled with new knowledge, great opportunities, and equally inspiring educational initiatives!
