ROUND TABLE “TRIBOLOGY IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING: FROM SCIENCE TO TECHNOLOGY” HELD AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY

Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University hosted a round table entitled “Tribology in Mechanical Engineering: From Science to Technology,” organized by the Surface Engineering and Tribology Research Center.

The scientific meeting was attended online by Małgorzata Rutkowska-Gorczyca, PhD, a researcher from Wrocław University of Science and Technology in Poland. Representatives of the Institute of Composite Materials (ICM) and the Scientific Center for Protective and Functional Coatings (PROFCOAT) also attended the event in person and shared their research experience in materials science, composite materials, and functional coatings.

During the round table, participants discussed friction and wear processes, wear resistance of materials, tribomechanical properties of surface layers, protective and functional coatings, as well as approaches to surface modification.

The participants exchanged views on methods for evaluating tribological characteristics, improving the performance properties of materials, reducing friction and wear, and applying scientific results in mechanical engineering technologies.

The event also included a presentation of the TriboHub information platform. Participants were introduced to the platform’s main capabilities, which allow research methods, technologies, equipment, and scientific materials in the field of tribology to be systematized within a single information environment.

University students also took an active part in the round table. Bimakhan Nurkhat and Birzhan Yelzhan, third-year students of the Physics and Computer Science educational program, presented reports on tribology and mechanical engineering and participated in the scientific discussion.

During the meeting, specialists and students exchanged experience and discussed prospects for the development of research in tribology, materials science, and surface engineering.

The round table contributed to the integration of scientific developments with technological solutions, introduced participants to international experience, and strengthened research cooperation in this field.
