COURSES WERE HELD FROM THE UNITED NATIONS ORGANIZATION ON THE TREATMENT OF PRISONERS

Law students successfully completed an online course on the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners. This educational course was developed by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The purpose of the training is to deepen knowledge of the principles and standards governing the treatment of prisoners globally.
The lecturer was Dr. Kuat Rakhimberdin, Doctor of Law. In his opinion, it is important for future lawyers to apply the Nelson Mandela Rules – universally recognized minimum standards for prison management and treatment of prisoners.
In the course of the training, the students received detailed information on the Standard Minimum Rules to ensure the human treatment of prisoners, prevent ill-treatment and safeguard their rights and dignity. They mastered principles aimed at promoting the rehabilitation and social reintegration of prisoners, and deepened their understanding of the importance of adhering to international standards in criminal justice.
The course included interactive learning materials, case studies. Specialized lectures and practical exercises helped students to develop skills of analysis and problem solving.
At the end of the course, 30 students received internationally recognized certificates from the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.
