STUDENTS FROM BURYATIA VISITED THE AKBAUYR TRACT

As part of the international summer school at Amanzholov University, students from Dorzhi Banzarov Buryat State University visited the most unique cultural monument of the East Kazakhstan region – the Neolithic temple complex Akbauyr.

It was the first time foreign students had been to the tract where the ancient astronomical site, rock paintings and petroglyphs have been preserved. Having overcome 38 kilometers from the regional center, they saw the grotto – a cave in the form of a cone, which is located at a height of about six meters from the foot of the mountain. It is on the walls of this cave clearly visible rock drawings – petroglyphs.

-It turns out that 80 drawings were discovered here. The stone depicts not only people, but also animals, as well as dwellings, various household utensils. There are many different signs and symbols, the exact meaning of which is still unknown. The drawings are made with natural paint – red ochre. It’s a magical sight,” said Victoria Tsydenova, a student from Buryatia.

Akbauyr is believed to date back to the Bronze Age. It is one of the most ancient temples of Kazakhstan from the Neolithic period, known to date. Settlements of the end of the Bronze Age and the beginning of the Iron Age were located in these places.

-Today we were told that here nomadic Sakas led a settled way of life. For a kilometer and a half there are many settlements of ancient people. Thank you to Amanzholov University for the opportunity to touch the amazing monuments of the past, – shared Daniil Shygin.

Thanks to the trip, the students were able to personally see the messages of distant ancestors, about which they used to read only in history textbooks.
