200 STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY TOOK PART IN THE ACTION ‘STUDENTS AGAINST DRUGS!’
In cooperation with the Drug Crime Prevention Directorate of the East Kazakhstan region Police Department, a campaign called ‘Students Against Drugs!’ was held at EKU. As part of the event, a large-scale dance challenge was organised, in which about 200 students of the university took part. This is how the law enforcement agencies seek to encourage young people in the region to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
– The annual illicit drug trafficking in our country is more than 20-25 tonnes. That is why we take various measures to solve this problem. The main goal of today’s Challenge is to inform the young generation about the harmful consequences of drug addiction,’ said Daulet Zhumadilov, head of the Department for Combating Drug Crime.
Before the dance flash mob began, two hundred students held flags of Kazakhstan and posters reading ‘Life without drugs’. According to the students, this is how they demonstrate their views on drug addiction.
– Nowadays, it is important to lead the right lifestyle, to strive for success and growth, to be healthy and financially prosperous. In order to do this, it is necessary to clearly realise that any kind of addiction will only hinder and pull you back. The student society of our university is against drugs. We are only for prosperity, – noted freshman Talgat Daryn.
Having performed the ‘dance of health’, the youth of the region passed the baton to Abay region.
At the end of the event with an explanatory and informative speech was made by officers of the Police Department of East Kazakhstan region. According to them, today drug offenders in Kazakhstan face imprisonment up to 20 years.
