STUDENTS OF THE AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY JOINED THE ‘WORLD CLEANUP DAY’ CAMPAIGN

Students of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University took an active part in the annual, large-scale environmental action ‘World Cleanup Day’. This event takes place in 150 countries of the world and more than 380 million people take part in it.

The slogan of the action ‘Think globally, act locally’ reflects the purpose of the event – to unite the population for organisation of complex actions on cleaning of territories from rubbish. In Ust-Kamenogorsk the action was held on the coastal zone of the Ulba River, which allowed to attract public attention to the problem of environmental pollution, especially water bodies.

-I want to say a big thank you to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources for the organisation of such event, where we not only help to clean the nature, but also show that care about ecology is a common task of each of us. Today my classmates and I united and did a great job. Special thanks to the management of our university for the support and the opportunity to participate in such events, – said Diana Khamadieva, a third-year student of the “Ecology” educational programme.

Annual participation of students in ‘World Cleanup Day’ promotes the formation of environmental culture and awareness of the importance of preserving the nature of the region. The event also raised awareness of the need to protect the environment.
