EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY RANKED 13TH IN “UI GREEN METRIC WORLD UNIVERSITY”

S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University entered the top 1000 universities of the world participating in the International rating “UI Green Metric World University” and took 13th place among the most “environmentally friendly” universities in Kazakhstan. The purpose of the rating is sustainable development, social well-being, preserving the stability of social and cultural systems, ensuring the integrity of biological and physical natural systems.

In the Kazakhstan rating East Kazakhstan University took 13th place out of 28 universities of the country that took part. A total of 1500 universities of the world took part in the rating, which assesses the strategic plan of sustainable development and monitoring to reduce the negative impact on the environment.

The University scored the highest in the categories: -Environment and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change.

-Updated infrastructure in recent years (educational and material base, Student Houses, scientific laboratories, center for Continuing and Inclusive Education “DANA BALA”, training practice bases “Sibina”, Pankratiev Garden, etc.), safety conditions for faculty and students (updated video camera system) gave the University the opportunity to enter the UI Green Metric World University. The green campus of the university should also be noted. Its work on preservation of flora and fauna of the region brought additional points and was highly appreciated by experts, — said Rector of East Kazakhstan University Mukhtar Tolegen.

S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University’s inclusion in Greenmetrics demonstrated the university’s commitment to the principles of sustainable development, great attention to research related to economic, food security, natural changes.
