UNIVERSITY STUDENT BECAME A PRIZE-WINNER IN AN INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT

Angelina Penyaeva, a 2nd year student of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, specializing in “Physical Education and Sports”, became a bronze medalist of the “Pacific Cup” in curling as part of the national team of Kazakhstan. The sporting event was held in Vladivostok (Russia). National teams of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Minsk, as well as local seaside teams took part in the competition. The tournament was included in the program of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

The organizers noted the importance of the event for the region, stressing that the strongest athletes of Russia and friendly countries gather in Vladivostok for the second year in a row, which contributes to strengthening friendship and sports spirit.

Curling is a team sports game played on the ice. Participants of two teams take turns launching special heavy granite shells on the ice towards a target marked on the ice. Each team has four players.
