ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION “HOW DOES ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE CHANGE CIVILIZATION?”
As part of the Artificial Intelligence Week in the Republic of Kazakhstan, a round table discussion titled “How Does Artificial Intelligence Change Civilization?” was held at Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University. The event was organized by the lecturers of the Department of Computer Modeling and Information Technology — Zhanetta Sungatkyzy and Togzhan Zheniskyzy.
The main goal of the meeting was to discuss the role and significance of artificial intelligence in the reforms outlined by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his September Address, and to compare these developments with global trends.
During the event, students of the “Mathematics and Informatics” educational program, Zhaniya Kakim and Ernur Maratov, presented their reports highlighting the opportunities and risks associated with artificial intelligence. They shared their views on AI’s impact on the labor market, the education system, and social development.
Participants described artificial intelligence as a “double-edged sword”: on one hand, it opens vast possibilities in science and medicine; on the other, it poses potential global challenges. It was emphasized that the future of civilization in the AI era depends largely on how ethically and strategically humanity chooses to apply this technology.
