AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY AND FRANCE UNITE TO TRAIN SPECIALISTS FOR THE NUCLEAR INDUSTRY

At Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, a meeting was held between Rector Mukhtar Tolegen and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Kazakhstan, Sylvain Giohée. As a result of the negotiations, the parties agreed to cooperate in training highly qualified specialists for the nuclear energy sector.

Today, France ranks second in the world in terms of electricity generated by nuclear power plants and first in the share of nuclear energy in its overall energy balance. France is one of the world’s largest exporters of electricity, actively conducts research in the field of nuclear energy, and possesses advanced technologies for reactor production, as well as for fuel manufacturing and recycling.

Rector Mukhtar Tolegen emphasized that this cooperation initiative aligns with the strategic priorities set by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, which are focused on modernizing the national energy sector and introducing environmentally friendly technologies.

“The President of Kazakhstan has repeatedly stressed the importance of training domestic specialists in the field of nuclear energy. Today’s agreement is a concrete step in that direction, forming an institutional foundation for developing the country’s scientific potential,” noted the rector.

The French side expressed its interest in sharing experience and strengthening bilateral scientific and educational cooperation. Ambassador Sylvain Giohée highly appreciated the academic potential of Amanzholov University, noting its readiness and active integration into the international scientific and educational community.
