RECTOR OF SARSEN AMANZHOLOV EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY MEETS WRITER BORIS SHCHERBAKOV

The Rector of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, Professor Mukhtar Tolegen, met with the renowned Kazakh writer, researcher, Honored Educator of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Honorary Citizen of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Boris Vasilyevich Shcherbakov.

During the meeting, they discussed the spiritual heritage of East Kazakhstan, the role of literary and cultural projects in educating youth, and the importance of historical memory. Special attention was given to Boris Vasilyevich’s works — Zvezdnaya Step k Zhidebayu (“Starry Steppe to Zhidebay”), Kray Ozyornogo Sinegorya (“The Land of the Lake Sinegorye”), Abay i Priroda (“Abay and Nature”), and Vlastelin Velikoy Pustyni (“The Lord of the Great Desert”). These works have become significant cultural phenomena and contributed greatly to the popularization of the heritage of Abay, Shakarim, and Mukhtar Auezov.

The Rector emphasized the value of the writer’s scholarly and cultural legacy, noting that his works help young people gain a deeper understanding of the history of their homeland, the nature of the great steppe, and the spiritual roots of Kazakh culture. He also expressed the university’s readiness to support creative projects, assist with publishing efforts, and participate in joint spiritual and cultural initiatives.

During the meeting, both parties expressed willingness to collaborate in the future on events aimed at the spiritual development of youth and the strengthening of national identity.

Boris Vasilyevich, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the attention to his work and highlighted the special role of universities in shaping the spiritual world of the younger generation.
