SCIENCE IN ACTION: OPEN LESSON ON CHEMICAL ANALYSIS AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY

Associate Professor of the Department of Chemistry, PhD Dr. Zhazira Bigaliyevna Mukazhanova conducted an open lesson for second-year students of the 6B01507 “Chemistry-Biology” educational program within the discipline “Quantitative Analysis” on the topic “Determination of Iron Content in a Iron(II) Solution.”

During the lesson, redox reactions were discussed, and the possibilities of determining the concentration of various substances based on changes in the oxidation state of iron ions were explained.

In the practical part, students observed the titration process and learned the rules for preparing solutions. In addition, they studied a method for determining the equivalence point without using an indicator. It was demonstrated that, due to its intense color, potassium permanganate solution acts as its own indicator.

The open lesson was conducted in an interactive format and contributed to deepening students’ knowledge of the subject as well as developing their practical skills. Such classes play an important role in enhancing students’ professional competencies.
