THE ROLE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE LEGACY OF KHOJA AHMED YASAWI IN THE SYSTEM OF NATIONAL VALUES

Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, together with the Ketbuqa-Tolegetai International Public Foundation, held an open lecture entitled “The Role and Significance of the Legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in the System of National Values.”

The meeting was devoted to the study of the spiritual legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, understanding the significance of national values, strengthening historical memory, and promoting spiritual heritage among young people.

Kairat Maratovich Musin, President of the Ketbuqa-Tolegetai International Public Foundation, delivered a welcoming address and emphasized the importance of the meeting and its educational purpose.

The Chairman of the Board – Rector Gulzhan Jarassova also welcomed the participants. She highlighted the importance of national values in shaping the spiritual foundations of society and emphasized the significance of studying historical and spiritual heritage within the educational environment.

The main speaker of the open lecture was Dosai Tursynbayevich Kenzhetai, Professor at Khoja Ahmed Yasawi International Kazakh-Turkish University and Doctor of Philosophy and Theology.

During the lecture, the spiritual and philosophical legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi and its role in shaping the worldview and spiritual culture of Turkic peoples were discussed. The scholar focused on such fundamental principles of Yasawi’s teachings as morality, virtue, the pursuit of knowledge, and spiritual development, explaining their connection with the system of national values.

The legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi occupies a special place in the spiritual history of the Turkic world. His works and teachings contributed to the spread of ideas of inner purity, the pursuit of knowledge, kindness, and responsibility. Along with the historical significance of this legacy, the meeting also addressed its spiritual and educational role in modern society.

The programme continued with a presentation by Aibek Mutalapkhanovich Karimov, Head of the Alternative Study of Culture and History Project of the Ketbuqa-Tolegetai International Public Foundation. His presentation was entitled “The History of the Spread of Yasawi’s Teachings in the Eastern Region of Kazakhstan: Altai, Tarbagatai, Ayagoz and Shyngystau.”

In his presentation, he introduced materials on the history of the spread of Yasawi’s teachings in the eastern regions of Kazakhstan, paying particular attention to the historical and cultural areas of Altai, Tarbagatai, Ayagoz and Shyngystau. Such research makes it possible to examine Yasawi’s legacy not only within the broader spiritual context of the Turkic world but also in connection with regional history.

The meeting concluded with an open dialogue with students. Participants asked the speakers questions and exchanged views on spirituality, national education, historical memory, and the preservation of cultural heritage for future generations.

The open lecture became a meaningful academic and educational platform that enabled participants to gain a deeper understanding of the legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi and reflect on its significance in the context of national values.

The joint initiative of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University and the Ketbuqa-Tolegetai International Public Foundation is aimed at promoting spiritual heritage, studying historical and cultural heritage, and strengthening the continuity of national values.
