“GREEN FUTURE” ECO QUIZ HELD AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY

The Department of Ecology and Geography of the Higher School of IT and Natural Sciences at Amanzholov University held the “Green Future” eco quiz for fourth-year students of the Ecology educational program studying in Russian and Kazakh. The event was organized as part of the national Taza Qazaqstan program and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was organized by Bibigul Serikovna Daukenova and Assem Oraldinovna Orsarinova, heads of the Ecology Club, together with Senior Lecturer Serik Askarovich Bakin. The main purpose of the eco quiz was to improve students’ environmental literacy, develop ecological thinking, foster a responsible attitude toward the environment, and strengthen professional knowledge in ecology, environmental protection, and sustainable development.

The program consisted of five thematic rounds, each of which gave participants an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, erudition, and ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice. In the “Environmental Expert” round, students answered questions on general ecology, environmental protection, and fundamental ecological principles. The “Ecology of Kazakhstan” round focused on current environmental issues in the Republic of Kazakhstan, natural resources, specially protected natural areas, and environmental conservation measures.

During the “Fact or Myth” round, participants determined whether environmental statements were accurate, demonstrating critical thinking and the ability to distinguish scientific facts from common misconceptions. In the “Environmental Situation” round, students analyzed practical environmental problems, proposed possible solutions, and demonstrated their ability to make environmentally sound decisions. The final round, “Sustainable Development,” focused on the principles of rational use of natural resources, environmental responsibility, and prospects for creating an environmentally sustainable future.

The eco quiz was held in an atmosphere of intellectual competition, active participation, and mutual support. Throughout all stages, participants showed strong interest, logical thinking, and a desire to deepen their professional knowledge.

Following the five rounds, Ilya Yakovenko and Yerkezhan Beisembinova took first place. Milena Popovich and Tolkyn Mavlyudova took second place, while Viktoria Makhonina and Yersultan Oryngazin took third place. Ruslan Nigmetov, Sabina Shukalakova, and Assel Muzdaparova placed fourth. All participants demonstrated strong knowledge of ecology and readiness to apply it in addressing current environmental challenges.

The “Green Future” eco quiz became an important part of the educational and scientific outreach activities of the Amanzholov University Ecology Club. The event contributed to the development of professional competencies among future environmental specialists, strengthened interaction between students studying in Russian and Kazakh, and increased young people’s interest in environmental protection and sustainable development.

Such initiatives reflect Amanzholov University’s commitment to developing an environmentally responsible generation capable of contributing to the solution of modern environmental challenges and the implementation of sustainable development principles.

We congratulate the winners and prize recipients of the eco quiz and wish all participants continued success in their studies, research activities, and professional development. Environmental knowledge, a responsible attitude toward nature, and a willingness to take action today are essential conditions for protecting the environment and building a sustainable future.

The future of our planet begins with each of us!
