AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY STUDENT WON SILVER AT THE RK SHORT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP

Students of Amanzholov Univertsity have repeatedly proved that they are capable of achieving high results in the national and international arena. One of them is a second-year student of the educational programme ‘Physical Education and Sport’ Kumarkan Zeynep, who won a silver medal at a distance of 500 metres at the Short Track Speed Skating Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan, held in Astana from the first to the fifth of October this year.

In the final ranking of women Kumarkan Zeynep took the fourth place, which allowed her to be included in the national team of Kazakhstan. She will now represent the country at the next major competitions, including the World Cup, World Universiade, Asian Games and Junior World Championships.

-The mood for the competition as a whole was good. My goal was to finish in the top five and qualify for the Asian Games and Junior World Championships. I am satisfied with my performance and the fact that I fulfilled my goals. The impressions were both good and exciting, especially during the final race,’ the athlete shared her emotions.

This competition was an important qualifying stage for the formation of Kazakhstan’s national short track team, which will represent the country at international tournaments in the winter sports season 2024-2025.

It should be noted that Zeynep has been involved in this sport since she was nine years old and has already achieved significant success, having won bronze at the second stage of the Junior World Cup in the Dutch city of Leeuwarden, as well as silver at the third stage in Heerenveen.
