EKU STUDENT BROUGHT KAZAKHSTAN GOLD AT THE INTERNATIONAL KICKBOXING TOURNAMENT

A student of the educational program “Physical Culture and Sports” Yerkezhan Dauletzhankyzy won gold at the international kickboxing tournament in Uzbekistan. The girl has been professionally engaged in boxing and kickboxing since she was 10 years old. Over the years, Yerkezhan has repeatedly won international championships and tournaments in Kazakhstan, Germany, Ukraine, Serbia and Asia.
– The kickboxing tournament was held in sunny Tashkent. Everything was organized at the highest level. The rivals were the strongest, but I was able to win,” the student shared.
The peculiarity of Yerkezhan lies in two related sports that she is engaged in. It should be noted that kickboxing was formed as an independent sport, borrowing various methods of attack and defense from other martial arts. Kicks came from taekwondo, elbows – from Muay Thai, fists – from English boxing.
In boxing, there are strict rules. You can only hit with your hands and use only limited fist fighting techniques.
– My first coach is my father. He wanted to teach me self-defense, but at some point I realized that I wanted to do boxing and kickboxing professionally. Dad doesn’t train me now. Only accompanies me in important sporting events, providing me with support,” Yerkezhan said.
According to the athlete, at the moment she is intensively preparing for the World kickboxing Championship in Portugal and the Kazakhstan Boxing Championship.
