THE ANNUAL “ABAI READINGS” COMPETITION WAS HELD AT THE UNIVERSITY

The Department of Kazakh, Russian philology and journalism and the research institute “Abai Studies” held the X regional competition “Abai Readings-2025” among students of 10-11 classes of East Kazakhstan and Abai regions. The event is dedicated to the 180th anniversary of Abai Kunanbayev.

The main purpose of the competition is to popularize Abai’s heritage, deep mastery of the artistic specificity of the native language, as well as assistance in determining the professional orientation of students.

The contest was organized in three stages. In the first stage «Өлең – сөздің патшасы, сөз сарасы» participants demonstrated the skill of expressive reading of works of the Kazakh poet. The second stage was held in the format of a quiz and was called “Zhuirikten zhuyrik ozar zharyskanda”. In the third stage “”Мен бір жұмбақ адаммын…” the organizers conducted a blitz-quiz on Abai’s biography and his works.

According to the results of the contest Aisholpan Akhatbekova, 11th grade student of “Shilikta secondary school” won the Grand Prix. The first place was won by Meruert Toktargazy, a 10th grade student of “Kasym Kaisenov Settlement Secondary School”. The second place was won by Bekbolat Tolganbaev, 11th grade student of Zhambyl OMGGI, and Mansur Kadyrkhanov, 10th grade student of “General Education School No. 47”. Third place went to Sabina Erkinbekova, a 10th grade student of “Secondary School №46”, Inkar Oktyabr, a 10th grade student of “Secondary School named after Shakarim”, and Aybota Dauletbekova, a 10th grade student of “Secondary School №9 of Altai” Aibota Dauletbek.

At the end of the event, the participants and their supervisors were presented with letters of thanks and certificates.
