FROM DOCTOR TO PROFESSOR: A LIFELONG JOURNEY
Gulmira Zainelovna Zainelova — Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the International Academy of Creativity, and member of the European Respiratory Society — left a significant mark on national science, education, and practical healthcare.
Gulmira Zainelovna was born on July 5, 1948. In 1973, she graduated from the Semipalatinsk State Medical Institute with a degree in General Medicine. She began her professional career as an occupational physician at an industrial polyclinic, where she worked from 1973 to 1976.
From 1976 to 1994, she headed the Allergology Department of the Occupational Pathology Clinic at the Research Institute of Regional Pathology, where she established herself as a highly qualified specialist and an effective organizer of medical services.
Since 1994, her professional activity was associated with Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, where she progressed from Head of the Department of Clinical Disciplines to Professor at the Department of Culture, Sports, and Initial Military Training at the Higher School of Pedagogy.
In 1990, she defended her Candidate of Sciences dissertation on the topic “Pollinosis of Rudny Altai.” In 2010, she successfully defended her doctoral dissertation focused on the study of functional changes in the cardiovascular system and psychophysiological disorders among industrial workers, earning the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences. In 2002, she was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor.
Gulmira Zainelovna made a significant contribution to the development of medical education and participated in the establishment of the university’s Faculty of Medical and Preventive Care. She served as the chairperson of the Ust-Kamenogorsk branch of the Kazakh Physiological Society and, in 2013, was elected an academician of the International Academy of Creativity.
Her scientific legacy includes more than 100 publications, including monographs, teaching and methodological manuals, and an invention. She actively participated in scientific and practical conferences at various levels and conducted research in the fields of occupational physiology and human ecology.
In addition to her academic and teaching work, Gulmira Zainelovna remained a practicing physician of the highest category, providing consultative assistance to medical institutions and taking part in preventive examinations of industrial workers.
Throughout her career, she proved herself to be a demanding and highly professional educator, a mentor to the younger generation, and a person of great responsibility and integrity. She was known for her kindness, responsiveness, and respectful attitude toward colleagues and students, earning well-deserved authority in the professional community.
Her work was recognized with numerous awards and letters of appreciation, including honorary certificates from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the akimat of Ust-Kamenogorsk, and medical institutions. She was awarded the titles “Pride of the University” and “Honorary Professor” of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University.
The bright memory of Gulmira Zainelovna Zainelova — an outstanding scientist, physician, and educator — will forever remain in the hearts of her colleagues, students, and all those who had the honor of working and communicating with her.
