WILL THE DIGITAL INITIATIVE IN THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR AFFECT MILK PRICES?

Researchers from East Kazakhstan region comprehensively studied the causes of price increases in the dairy industry – high logistics costs and participation of intermediaries – and developed an innovative project aimed at solving this problem.

Thus, researchers from S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University propose effective mechanisms for delivery of products from small farms directly to the market, relying on the possibilities of digital logistics. This approach allows to reduce the number of intermediaries, reduce transportation costs and provide consumers with more affordable and high-quality products.

Project leader, candidate of economic sciences, associate professor of East Kazakhstan University Asel Apysheva noted that the main goal of the initiative is the introduction of IT-technologies, sensors and automated systems for fast and efficient delivery of raw materials to processing plants, and from there – to stores. As a result, there is a real opportunity to reduce the cost of milk.

– The project envisages the widespread introduction of digital technologies in agriculture. This will help small farms to use more efficient delivery methods. In addition, dairy products produced in accordance with environmental standards will have a positive impact on the health of our population, – emphasized Asel Anuarbekovna.

According to her, despite the high potential for the introduction of digital logistics at large dairy processing plants in East Kazakhstan, the full implementation of the project is hampered by the lack of qualified marketers and logistics specialists.

Note that to date, the project “Improving the competitiveness of the dairy sector of the region’s agro-industrial complex in the conditions of digital logistics” has received financial support from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This is an important step towards the development of the regional economy and ensuring price stability.
