AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY HOSTED A DISCUSSION ON CURRENT ISSUES IN PHILOLOGY AND JOURNALISM
On May 21, 2026, Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University hosted the 5th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Current Issues in Philology and Journalism”, dedicated to the memory of Professor Lucia Ildarovna Abdullina — a distinguished scholar, educator, and one of the founders of philological and journalism education in East Kazakhstan.
The conference brought together researchers, academics, young scholars, master’s students, and undergraduates from Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. The event was held in a hybrid format at Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University. Discussions focused on contemporary issues in philology, literary studies, journalism, media communication, and the transformation of humanities knowledge in the context of rapidly developing artificial intelligence technologies.
The participants were welcomed by Mukhtar Adilbekovich Tolegen, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University. During the plenary session, presentations highlighted the scientific and methodological legacy of L.I. Abdullina, contemporary rhetoric, journalism, media texts, literary space in fiction, and the application of artificial intelligence technologies in philological education.
Special attention was paid to the life and professional achievements of Lucia Ildarovna Abdullina, who devoted 38 years of service to the university. Speakers emphasized her significant contribution to the development of philological and journalism education, the organization of scientific and educational projects, the training of young specialists, and the formation of the humanitarian and cultural environment of East Kazakhstan.
The plenary session featured presentations by scholars from Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, A.S. Griboyedov Moscow University, Saint Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, and other higher education institutions. The topics covered contemporary literary studies, media discourse, cognitive mechanisms of modern media texts, and the impact of generative artificial intelligence technologies on philological education and journalism practice.
The conference continued its work through four thematic sections: “Current Issues in Linguistics and Literary Studies”, “Innovative Technologies in Teaching Philology”, “Transformation of Philological Knowledge in the Context of Artificial Intelligence Development”, and “History, Theory and Practice of Journalism”. Participants discussed contemporary Kazakh literature, intercultural communication, internet communication, inclusive education, media literacy, the digital transformation of humanities, and the use of AI tools in teaching Russian language and literature.
The conference served as a platform for professional dialogue, exchange of research experience, and discussion of current trends in the development of modern philology and journalism. The event reaffirmed the significance of Lucia Ildarovna Abdullina’s scientific and methodological legacy and demonstrated its continuing relevance to contemporary humanitarian and educational processes.
