TRADITIONS AND NATIONAL UNITY: STUDENTS AND FACULTY OF EKU PARTICIPATED IN A NATIONAL RECORD EVENT

For the fourth time in Kazakhstan, a national record in the art of patchwork quilting was established: for Capital City Day in Astana; during the Second World Nomad Games in Astana; at the Medeu skating rink in Almaty; and at the Altai Stadium in Ust-Kamenogorsk.

For the “Alaman Quraq” project, which plans to cover 19 regions of Kazakhstan, holding the event in our city after such major metropolitan centers as Astana and Almaty is a great honor. When a world-level event covering the entire country takes place in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University did not remain on the sidelines, providing sponsorship support for its employees and creating conditions for their достойное participation.

Masters of industrial training from the Department of Physics and Technologies of the Higher School of IT and Natural Sciences — Aizhan Toleukhanovna Umbetova and Assel Kadyrbekovna Abiyeva — became recipients of silver and gold medals.

The dimensions of the korpe included in the GBR Record Book were: width — 90 cm and length — 260 cm. When 787 craftswomen from across Kazakhstan simultaneously unfolded identical patchwork pieces called “Barqytbel,” the total length of the fabric reached 2,000 meters. In addition, on the same day, 787 craftswomen holding “Otty Zhylky” pillows marched across the square and set a second record.

This became the result of tremendous effort, the unity of Kazakh women, and their love for traditional folk crafts.

Fourth-year student of the educational program 6B01402 “Vocational Training, Artistic Work and Graphics” of our university, Guldana Daurenovna Kabdenova, together with her teachers, also participated in setting the record and became a recipient of silver and gold medals.

In the future, it is planned to involve even more students in upcoming record-setting events. The university, which alongside scientific knowledge fosters spiritual values among the younger generation, is building ambitious plans for the future.
