CHEMISTRY IN THE 21ST CENTURY: FROM FUNDAMENTAL KNOWLEDGE TO THE TECHNOLOGIES OF THE FUTURE
On September 2, 2026, the Department of Chemistry of the Higher School of IT and Natural Sciences at Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University held its first introductory lecture for first-year students. The event marked an important stage in the beginning of their academic and professional journey, providing them with an opportunity to explore modern chemical science and its future development.
The lecture was delivered by Bakyt Kaliaskarovna Shaikhova, Professor of the Department of Chemistry. During the meeting, students were introduced to the key areas of development in 21st-century chemistry, current scientific research, and the practical significance of chemical knowledge in various spheres of society.
Particular attention was paid to the role of fundamental knowledge in the training of future specialists. Students learned that chemistry is not only an important natural science concerned with the composition, structure, and properties of substances, but also a foundation for the development of many modern technologies. Fundamental research in chemistry contributes to the creation of new materials, pharmaceutical products, environmentally friendly technologies, energy sources, and innovative industrial solutions.
The meeting was held in an informative and inspiring atmosphere. Students showed strong interest in the latest achievements of chemical science and the prospects for its further development. The knowledge and impressions gained during the lecture will undoubtedly serve as an important source of motivation for their further studies, scientific research, and professional growth.
The first lecture became a symbolic starting point for the first-year students, opening the way into the fascinating world of chemistry — a science that today not only helps explain the world around us, but also actively shapes the technologies of the future.
