“MY CHOICE — MY RESPONSIBILITY”: AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS DISCUSSED CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY

An interactive lecture entitled “My Choice — My Responsibility: What Kind of Citizen Should I Be?” was held for first-year students at Amanzholov University.

The lecture was delivered by Gulmira Toleubekovna Bairkenova, Associate Professor of the Department of Jurisprudence and Candidate of Legal Sciences.

During the event, students explored the main aspects of civic responsibility, discussed the relationship between individual rights, freedoms, and duties, and considered the importance of making informed choices in public life.

Particular attention was paid to the principle of mutual respect for rights and freedoms. During the discussion, it was emphasised that exercising one’s own rights also requires a responsible attitude towards the rights and interests of other members of society. Students also considered issues related to lawful conduct and responsibility for the decisions they make.

The interactive format of the lecture allowed first-year students to take part in the discussion and express their own views on the qualities and principles that form the basis of civic responsibility. Among those highlighted were responsibility, respect for the rights of others, thoughtful decision-making, and readiness to accept the consequences of one’s actions.

At the conclusion of the event, the key message of the lecture was emphasised: individual rights and freedoms are inseparably linked with responsibility, while civic engagement is reflected in everyday decisions and attitudes towards others.

The lecture formed part of the educational work with first-year students aimed at developing legal awareness, civic responsibility, and a conscious attitude towards their rights and duties.
