NEW ACADEMIC YEAR — A NEW CHAPTER: AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY WELCOMED FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS IN A FESTIVE CEREMONY

On September 1, Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University held a festive event dedicated to the Day of Knowledge and the beginning of the new 2026–2027 academic year. For yesterday’s school graduates, this day marked the first step into university life — a time of new knowledge, new connections, new opportunities, and new achievements.

Today, the University is not only an educational institution, but also a space for personal development, scientific research, creativity, and professional growth. Founded in 1952, Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University continues to preserve its traditions while opening up new opportunities for young people.

A special place in the festive programme was devoted to the theme of a “Just Kazakhstan.” It is the younger generation that will shape the future of the country, and knowledge, responsibility, respect for the law, and love for the Motherland are becoming essential foundations of this path.

One of the significant moments of the ceremony was the recognition of students who entered the University with outstanding academic and sporting achievements.

This year, more than 3,000 educational grant holders were admitted to Amanzholov University, including 1,500 recipients of state educational grants, while 100 students received grants from the Akim of East Kazakhstan Region.

The University also opened its doors to talented young people from across the country. Among the first-year students are 79 holders of the “Altyn Belgi” distinction, prize-winners of international Olympiads, and winners of creative competitions.

Particularly impressive are the achievements of students admitted to the “Physical Culture and Sports” educational programme. Among the first-year students are 30 Masters of Sport and Candidates for Master of Sport, as well as 25 winners of international and national competitions.

As part of the ceremony, state and departmental awards were presented to University employees in recognition of their professional contribution to the development of science and education.

Among the award recipients were members of the faculty who have made a significant contribution to the advancement of the University’s scientific and educational activities.

A particularly important moment was the recognition of Acting Chairman of the Board – Rector Rovnyakova Irina Vladimirovna of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University.

Rizabek Bariyevich Sarmuldinov, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences and Associate Professor, delivered a congratulatory address to the University’s veterans, faculty members, and students. His speech became an important part of the festive programme, bringing together representatives of different generations of the university community.

Another highlight of the celebration was the recognition of students who demonstrated outstanding results upon admission.

First-year students were invited to the stage, including Adilov Aikhat Kuanyshbayuly, who scored 129 points on the Unified National Testing and was admitted to the educational programme “Kazakh Language and Literature,” as well as Batu Nurai, a first-year student of the educational programme “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” and a holder of the “Altyn Belgi” distinction. They were presented with symbolic keys and pledged to be worthy students of their University.

The official part of the event continued with a concert programme. University performers and student activists took the stage, presenting musical and dance performances. The programme concluded with the song “Menin Univerim!” (“My University!”).

However, the central figure of the day was undoubtedly the first-year student.

Today, a new chapter — university life — is opening for young people. Here, they will not only gain a profession, but also make friends, discover their talents in science, sports, creativity, and public life, learn to make decisions, and take responsibility for their choices.

The Day of Knowledge at Amanzholov University became more than just a festive occasion. It marked the symbolic beginning of a major new journey for thousands of young people.

May the student years become a time of bold decisions, inspiring discoveries, and great achievements. May every first-year student find opportunities at the University to bring their ideas to life, meet mentors who will help them realise their potential, and one day proudly say:

“I am a student of Amanzholov University!”
