From September 9 to 12, the international symposium “The Past, Present and Future of Altaic Studies,” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress, was held in Baku. The symposium was organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. The event addressed issues related to the history and culture of the Altai region, its linguistic and literary heritage, the spiritual continuity of peoples, as well as current trends in the development of Altaic studies.

Participants paid particular attention to the role of Altai in the history of human civilization and its importance in the study of the historical and cultural heritage of Turkic peoples. The discussions also focused on shared values of the Turkic world, the preservation of academic continuity, and the identification of new areas for future research.

Karlygash Turkistanovna Barbosynova and Raushangul Zakenovna Mukusheva presented their research papers and shared the results of their studies. In addition, they took part in professional discussions with international colleagues and exchanged views on current issues in Altaic studies.

Participation in the symposium in Baku enabled Amanzholov University faculty members to expand international academic ties, present Kazakhstan’s research to the international academic community, and strengthen cooperation in the fields of Turkology and Altaic studies.

Such academic meetings contribute to the in-depth study of historical and cultural heritage, the development of professional cooperation among researchers, and the identification of new perspectives for the study of the Turkic world.
