A NEW STAGE IN TRAINING FUTURE ERGOPEDAGOGUES AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY

Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University has launched a new stage in the training of future ergopedagogues. For students enrolled in the joint educational programme specialising in “Ergopedagogy, Occupational Therapy (Ergorehabilitation)” at the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy, medical-profile classes have been organised at Semey Medical University.

A key feature of the joint educational programme is the combination of pedagogical and psychological knowledge with professional training in medicine and rehabilitation. This approach enables future specialists to develop comprehensive competencies required for working with children and adults with various developmental and health-related needs.

During the third semester, students acquire basic medical knowledge of the structure and functioning of the human body, the characteristics of various disorders, and their impact on a person’s motor and functional activity. The educational programme includes such professional disciplines as “Functional and Visual Diagnostics in Occupational Therapy,” “Fundamentals of Psychopathology in Occupational Therapy,” “Fundamentals of Traumatology and Orthopaedics in Occupational Therapy,” and “Biomechanics of Movement.”

Classes are delivered by faculty members of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Neonatology at Semey Medical University. This form of academic cooperation enables students to develop an integrated understanding of medicine, rehabilitation, pedagogy, and psychology, while establishing professional connections between these fields.

Interdisciplinary training is particularly important for developing a comprehensive understanding of human functional capabilities among future ergopedagogues. Knowledge of medical fundamentals is essential when working professionally with people who have musculoskeletal disorders, visual and hearing impairments, autism spectrum disorders, as well as other developmental conditions.

The medical knowledge acquired provides a strong foundation for a deeper understanding of occupational therapy and ergorehabilitation technologies, as well as for their evidence-based and effective application in professional practice.

The joint training of specialists by Amanzholov University and Semey Medical University represents an important step towards developing a new generation of professionals capable of integrating knowledge from several fields and applying it effectively in practice.

Thus, the implementation of the joint educational programme broadens the professional opportunities available to future ergopedagogues and raises the quality of their training to a new level.
