University Museum
The museum is a repository of historical and memorial sources on the history of the university. Its main task is to build, study and systematize the collection of objects and sources, and to involve its collections in the educational process.
In 2018, the university management decided to modernize the museum. As a result, the unique Museum of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage of Altai was opened at the university. The opening was attended by well-known scholars of the republic: Z.S. Samashev, head of many scientific archaeological expeditions, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor and graduate of the Faculty of History of UKPI; Zh.K. Taimagambetov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor; E.M. Kariev, Senior Researcher at the “Altaytanu” Research Center; and university veteran I. Poltoranin, Doctor of Historical Sciences.
The museum features not only displays on the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, Bronze Age, Early Saka period and other eras, but also unique artefacts – jewellery, tools, fragments of headwear and pottery, bone articles and more.
The second floor also houses an exhibition of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, where national costumes of different peoples are displayed. The “History of the University” stands present the history of the founding of UKPI–EKSU.
