BEAUTIFUL AND BELOVED CITY ECO-CAMPAIGN BROUGHT TOGETHER AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY ECOLOGY STUDENTS
From September 25 to 27, 2026, second-year students of the Ecology educational program with Russian as the language of instruction at the Department of Ecology and Geography of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University took part in the “Beautiful and Beloved City” eco-campaign organized as part of the national Taza Qazaqstan programme.
The event was held under the guidance of the group curator and Senior Lecturer Serik Askarovich Bakin. It was aimed at developing a responsible attitude toward the environment, promoting environmental culture, and drawing young people’s attention to the importance of maintaining cleanliness and improving their home city.
Over the course of three days, the future ecologists explored different areas of Ust-Kamenogorsk and photographed its green spaces, streets, public gardens, and other landscaped areas. Through their photographs, the students sought to show the city as they would like to see it every day: clean, green, well-maintained, and comfortable for residents.
Practical activities formed an important part of the programme. Participants independently cleaned selected areas, collected litter, and helped maintain the cleanliness of public spaces. In this way, the students not only spoke about the importance of caring for nature but also demonstrated environmentally responsible behavior through their own actions.
The photographs taken during the campaign became a visual record of the three days, combining the beauty of Ust-Kamenogorsk with concrete efforts to preserve it. Each photograph reflects a simple but important idea: the condition of the urban environment largely depends on people’s everyday attitude toward the place where they live.
Participation in such initiatives is particularly important for students of the Ecology educational program. The professional training of future specialists includes not only the study of environmental problems and methods of environmental protection but also the development of personal responsibility for the condition of nature and the urban environment.
The “Beautiful and Beloved City” eco-campaign demonstrated how environmental education can be combined with practical action. Caring for the city begins with the everyday behavior of each person: not leaving litter behind, protecting green spaces, maintaining cleanliness, and setting an example of responsible attitudes toward nature.
