ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION “ECHOES OF THE TRAGIC YEARS: UNFORGETTABLE LESSONS OF HISTORY” HELD AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY.

Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University hosted a round table discussion titled “Echoes of the Tragic Years: Unforgettable Lessons of History”, dedicated to May 31 – the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression and Famine.

The event was held in Conference Hall No. 218 of Academic Building No. 1. The main objective of the round table was to reflect on the historical lessons of the political repressions and famine of the twentieth century, discuss the consequences of the totalitarian system, and address issues related to preserving historical memory among the younger generation.

The round table brought together university faculty members, researchers, master’s and doctoral students, school teachers, and archival specialists.

The discussion served as an important platform for exchanging views on the significance of historical memory, strengthening civic consciousness, and preserving the truth about one of the most tragic periods in the history of Kazakhstan.

Participants emphasized the importance of studying archival materials, conducting scholarly research, and educating young people about the historical events associated with political repression and famine. Particular attention was paid to fostering patriotism, respect for national history, and awareness of the value of independence, peace, and social stability.

The event highlighted the importance of preserving historical memory and ensuring that the lessons of the past continue to guide future generations.
