TRAINING COURSE ON FINANCIAL AND DIGITAL SECURITY HELD AS PART OF THE “SILVER UNIVERSITY” PROJECT

As part of the “Silver University 50+” project, Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University organized a training course entitled “Fundamentals of Financial and Digital Security” for older adults. The course was held from May 25 to 29, 2026, at the Resource Centre for Vocational Training and Professional Development.

The educational programme aimed to improve participants’ financial and digital literacy, develop safe online behaviour skills, and provide practical knowledge on how to protect themselves against fraudulent activities.

The course was delivered by Aksana Aleksandrovna Kalenova, Lecturer at the Department of Law. During the sessions, participants received detailed information on the most common types of financial fraud and cyber threats and discussed issues related to the protection of personal data, as well as the safe use of bank cards, mobile applications, and online services.

The training provided practical recommendations on identifying fraudulent schemes conducted via telephone and the Internet, making online payments securely, protecting accounts on social media platforms and messaging services, and taking appropriate action when encountering fraudulent activities.

The course was conducted in an interactive format, with extensive use of examples drawn from real-life situations and law enforcement practice. Participants actively engaged in discussions, received answers to their questions, and expanded their knowledge in the field of financial and digital security.

Such educational initiatives are important projects aimed at enhancing the legal and digital literacy of older adults, fostering a culture of safe behaviour in the information environment, and strengthening the financial security of the population.

Upon completion of the course, participants highly appreciated its practical value and expressed their willingness to take part in similar educational programmes in the future, aimed at developing the security skills required in the digital age.
