UNIVERSITY OPPORTUNITIES AS A PATH TO A PROFESSIONAL FUTURE

On September 2, 2026, Amanzholov University held its first introductory meeting for first-year students enrolled in the educational areas of “Economics and Management,” “Finance and Accounting,” and “Tourism.” The meeting was entitled “Invest in Yourself: University as a Path to Professional Success.”

The main purpose of the meeting was to demonstrate the importance of higher education in professional development, introduce students to the opportunities available at the University for learning and career growth, and establish key guidelines for developing professional competencies from the very first year of study.

The speakers were Alima Alipova and Aigul Assubayeva, who spoke to students about professional development, realising personal potential, and making effective use of University resources.

The event was organised in the format of a motivational quest, a University tour, mini-workshops, and interactive activities. This format enabled students not only to become familiar with the structure of the University, but also to explore in practice the opportunities available beyond the formal educational process.

During the meeting, students were introduced to the main areas of professional development. Particular attention was paid to the successful completion of their educational programmes, the development of professional competencies, participation in research activities, implementation of projects and startups, active involvement in University life, effective use of library resources, and the development of entrepreneurial thinking.

The practical part of the meeting included a training session entitled “My Entrepreneurial Abilities.” Students completed tasks aimed at developing initiative, creative thinking, teamwork skills, and the ability to find unconventional solutions.

Senior students of the Higher School of Business and Law actively contributed to the organisation of the interactive part of the event. They shared their experience of adapting to the university environment, organising their studies, and making effective use of the opportunities available to students.

At the conclusion of the meeting, each student was introduced to the “First-Year Student Professional Development Passport.” This tool is designed to help students gradually identify opportunities necessary for their professional and personal development during their studies and to build an individual development pathway.

It was emphasised during the meeting that knowledge, skills, practical experience, professional networks, and effective time management are key components of a student’s professional capital.

The first year of study is an important stage of professional development, providing students with an opportunity to realise their potential, develop the necessary competencies, and prepare consciously for their future careers. Meetings of this kind are aimed not only at helping students adapt to the university environment, but also at supporting the development of their professional pathway from the very beginning of their studies.
