AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY CELEBRATED THE 95TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DIDAR NEWSPAPER
The Beibut Mamrayev Scientific Library of Amanzholov University hosted the festive evening “Didar – 95 Years: The Voice of an Era, the History of the Country” as part of the “Reading University” project. The event was dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the regional DIDAR newspaper.
The purpose of the event was to promote a culture of reading, introduce students to the history of regional journalism, and reflect on the role of the media in society.
The special guest of the meeting was Dauren Allabergen, correspondent for the DIDAR newspaper, part of the ALTAI-NEWS Media Center, and a member of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan. Representatives of the University leadership, faculty members, and students also took part in the event.
During the meeting, participants explored the history of the publication, which for 95 years has reflected events in the region, covered the life of society, and preserved the memory of different historical periods. Particular attention was paid to the professional work of journalists, the development of the newspaper, and its role in shaping public opinion.
An important part of the event was an open dialogue with students. Participants asked Dauren Allabergen questions about the journalism profession, the work of the editorial team, and the process of preparing materials for publication. The discussion gave students a closer look at the practical side of journalism and an opportunity to receive answers to their questions.
The connection between libraries and the media in promoting a culture of reading was also highlighted. While libraries open the world of books to readers, newspapers introduce them to current events, social processes, and people who contribute to the development of the region.
The festive evening became a platform for introducing students to the history of one of the region’s significant publications and to the journalism profession. Such meetings help young people better understand the value of the written word, maintain an interest in the history of their home region, and develop a responsible attitude toward information.
