UNIVERSITY AS A PRACTICE PLATFORM: STUDENTS TRY BOS TRAINING

Students of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy are mastering the basics of hardware psychodiagnostics and psychocorrection.

First-year students of the educational programs “Clinical Psychology,” “Special Pedagogy,” and “Ergopedagogy with a specialization in Ergotherapy (Ergorehabilitation)” took part in the spring series of meetings of the “Neuropsychology: Theory and Practice” club (April 2026). Under the guidance of Zhanar Utegenovna Smailova, students became familiar with the laboratory of hardware psychodiagnostics and psychocorrection, its technical equipment (electroencephalograph, BOS-EEG device, and polygraph), as well as the specifics of using these devices in client work.

The practical part of the classes — independent testing of the BOS-EEG device — attracted the greatest interest among students. Participants had the opportunity to personally experience elements of BOS training: when sensors are attached to the head, the device displays brainwave rhythms on the screen in real time. During the BOS training sessions, students became acquainted with neurobiofeedback technologies aimed at developing self-regulation, concentration, and reducing psycho-emotional stress, as well as with interactive game and training protocols that allow users to manage their functional states.

Such sessions have important educational significance, as they allow first-year students to immerse themselves in a professional environment, develop clinical and analytical thinking, and foster interest in scientific research activities. For future clinical psychologists, special educators, and ergopedagogues, this is an opportunity to better understand the practical significance of neuropsychology and develop skills in analysis and interdisciplinary interaction. Participation in the club’s activities contributes to early professional orientation and increases motivation to master the chosen specialty.
